Into the dark

At some point, we have all heard of urban myths and legends- you know those stories that you heard happened to a friend and a friend's cousin or that your mum told you that her mum told her or even rumours that are passed round via email and the internet. Often they may be something that happened far away or something from your local community. These are sometimes horrifying, frightening or funny, but are usually always intriguing They do however always manage to capture our imagination or hold our attention because we are never, quite sure if they are true or not...

Below is a selection of urban myths and legends that we have found - you may have heard some before and some may be new to you. We have also added in some old theatrical superstitions for your enjoyment.

Have a read and submit a myth of your own - an urban myth or local legend that someone may have told you or try and think of your own- the scarier or more outrageous the better! If these are good -we will display them on this website for others to read.
